College Now Spring Registration

Dear Students, 
 
Do you want to earn college credits in high school? YOU have the opportunity to sign up for college levels courses! Hillcrest High School has partnered with CUNY York College to provide our students with a head start on their college degree by taking college courses at no cost. Deadline to register is Monday November,27th.Register today as seats are limited. 
 
Here are the courses we  are offering:
 
MATH 111 – Math Stats: Mr. Rios –  Tuesdays and Thursdays   2:30 PM - 4:00 PM
Elements of statistics, graphs, frequency distributions, measures of central tendency and measures of dispersion; elementary probability theory, counting, binomial and normal distributions.
 
BIOLOGY 120 – Genetics, Inheritance and Human Reproduction: Ms. Skobelsky– Wednesday   2:30 PM - 4:00 PM
An introduction to the genetics and chemistry of biological macromolecules, including DNA, RNA, and enzymes, and an examination of their role in life processes. Genetics and biology of sexual reproduction; embryonic growth and development.
BIOLOGY 110 -   Environmental Biology : Ms. Maystry - Thursday - 2:30 PM - 5:30 PM
Introduction to basic principles of ecology and evolution; description of genetic variation in populations, the properties of ecosystems, and the interaction between them which leads to natural selection and evolutionary change. Current problems including the population explosion and biological effects of pesticides and other pollutants.
 
ANTH 152 – Medical Anthropology: Mr. Nepal - Mondays  2:30 PM - 5:30 PM
Study the relationship of culture to nutrition and disease and an analysis of primitive and folk medical practices.
FIN 101 – Finance 101: Mr. Nepal - Wednesdays -  2:30 PM - 5:30 PM
This course examines the foundations of financial planning & wealth management. Topics include time value of money, investment options (stocks, bonds, mutual funds, commodities), budgeting, cash-flow management, credit leveraging, retirement planning, estate planning, tax planning, higher education planning and health care planning
SPAN 101 – Spanish 101: Mr. Pulgar - Tuesdays & Thursdays  2:30 PM - 4:00 PM
Basic principles of a beginner's course designed to give the foundation for understanding, speaking, reading, and writing the language, study of simple syntax.
